First Homework - enjoy while it's easy =)

Guys, this is your first homework:

  • Step 1: before our next class, which will be on March 3, try to go to the cinema and watch one of the movies nominated to the Acadamy Awards 2007. If you don't know which movies have been nominated, click here to check them out;

  • Step 2: come back here and make a comment about the movie you have watched saying if you liked it or not and if you agree it really deserved to be an Acadamy Awards 2007 nominee.

  • If you have already seen one (or more) of the nominated movies, don't waste your time and leave some comments about it/them. Don't forget to mention your name and the name of the movie, of course.

  • If you haven't seen any of the movies nominated to the Oscar, and don't have time to go to the movies this week, don't worry, there will be easier tasks later.

Have fun!!!

About two weeks ago I saw "The Departed", a film by Martin Scorsese. The film
is impressively well done, with an excellent soundtrack end an outstanding work
from cast that includes Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon.

The film is casting toward violence and bloodshed, but it's interesting to see
it from a different point of view. Indeed, it seems that Scorsese returned
to the well known GOODFELLAS territory to tell us about a diferent question
which is crucial nowadays: what is and what is not true in ours daily lifes?
I think that is the most important point of the movie.

I really liked the film, and I agree that it deserves to be an Acadamy
Awards nominee. In fact, now we know it won 4 Oscars, including the one of
best picture.

Hi Celius, I agree that the movie is excellent, and for those who haven't seen it, I've added the trailer under this first post. Check it out!

Hi fellows! Wow! You said that we should enjoy homework while it's easy!!! It sounds like a threat!
I also watched "The Departed". And I liked it too. I was very suprised in the end of movie, when something happened with Caprio's character. But I am not giving away the end of film. I also watched "Babel". Although I had liked it a lot, the plot is very similar to "Crash". See everybody tomorrow. Good night.

I watched ‘The Departed’ and it's a really great movie, a little deep, but great. When the movie finish you can breath normally again. I'm a big Scorsese's fan and Dicaprio's too. But I'm afraid that Dicaprio will always pay the price for Titanic and for many people he is just that guy ( what was his name? remember it was Jack). Any way, my favorite movie for this Oscar edition was ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, it’s a simple history about complex feelings. It’s an unforgetable movie and I have suggested it to everybody I know. I heard that it’s an independent production and it had costed very little for hollywood standards. At last but not least let's not forget BORAT, you must watch it. If you don’t, he will be executed.

I`ve watched the blood diamond. I liked very much because we can see that this kind of issue involving diamond is happening in nowadays. The reasons are that riches countries are responsible for this problems because they are buying them to make jewleres. It's a cycle like we saw in the past , the riches countries need resources like diamond , oil, minerals to use in their factories.
I liked a lot of this movie.

I watched sometime ago Blood Diamonts. It`s the kind of movie that makes you think about the world`s situation in the current moment. War, death and family are shown in a very interesting way.
I like it a lot. I think that we need to watch films like this once in a while and never forget that those things are usually true. What we can do to make it different? Very cool!

i hve watched the Departed film. it was fascinating for me, because i have seen the first time all the major actors died in a film. Normally in the other films, whatever happens all the time the major actor accomplihes to stay alive. For that reason I found it very interesting. On the other hand, although the scenario was exciting, sometimes it doesn't comply with the reality. For example when the actor who plays the role of police spy in the mafia organization, finds out who was the traitor in the police, he ran away immediately from there instead of struggling with him. Moreover the sergeant who was working the superintendent did not seem around, he only seemed in the end of film. Where and what was he doing all the time when bad events were happening to the police spy.

I watched Babel last week and I like it. The history started in desert and a woman got shot inside a turist bus. Her children went to Mexico with a babysiter without mother`s agreement. At the same time, in Japan a deaf girl is haven problems because her friends have already had sex and she haven`t had yet.
The movie is very interesting because it makes you reflect about yours own life, specially about with whom you are going to let your children.
This movie deserves to be an Academy Awards 2007.

Last year I watched a wonderful movie that, in my opinion, was the best: Little Miss Sunshine. It surprised me a lot because it was a quite different american movie. It is a history of a family that is travelling together to get a goal. It seens to be a B-movie, witch is something very different from american movies, but with a very creative and funny plot. The main character, a little girl called Abigail Breslin, worked very well and deserves the award. I recomend this movie for everybody!!!

Learning with the Italian guy, learning with radio announcers... pronunciation is a MUST!!!
