Contemporary Issues

Well, there is nothing more appropriate for the topic of our next unit (Contemporary Issues) than our blog, which is located in the most contemporary of issues (in my opinion) - the INTERNET!
So, I'd like to begin asking you all to watch these two videos and then comment on how you feel about this extremely fast (and probably unbrakeable) development of the virtual world.
Have fun!

I watched the two films, one of which shows the effectiveness and easiness of technology according to manuel way of writing and the other shows making fun of one guy who had been grown up with technology and dont know old style.
These films are nice to make us realize the advantages of technology. Sometimes we are not aware of easiness of facilities which we use in our daily life.

Ronaldo, I really loved both videos. Otherwise the first video’s message seems little cynic, it is true. Users in general are the nightmare to helpdesk’s attendants. They never know anything. They always need to ask about elementary things and they never, never read the manual. I laughed a lot. The video’s author was very creative.
The second video is more serious. It makes you think how the Internet is growing. It is scary! 100 billion clicks per day on the Internet?! Wow! The video brings to us an important subject. The Internet is us. We need to take care of it. What kind of future we are building? World technology is fantastic but it demands all of our attention. The future is up to us.

That's the idea! I'm glad you could get all that from the videos. By the way, don't you think that help desk attendants can also be the nightmare of every user?

Ronaldo, better late than never. Both videos are so interesting that I couldn't watch them only once.
The first describes, in a metaphorical way, of course, the feeling that I usually have when I'm confronted with a new device an it's manual. Although it seems simple and obvious, in general we need time to find out that the new technology is not so complicating and that our fears are based in our lack of knowledge.
The second video is extremely well-done and make us think about this new media, the Internet. I liked it very much!! Internet is changing more and more the way we interact with our world. That's why the video call us to "rethink" our relation with ethic, copyright, social life and relationship. It's easy to get everything through Internet, but it's also easier to be tempted to do something wrong, especially if you make a rash decison. Who have never download a music without pay for it? Who have never looked an e-mail during your work? Who have never download a piracy program... or something else? Internet is fascinating and brings, in a fast way, a vast change in our privacy and public concepts and that's one important reason to suit them.
